General Function:
Reporting to the Engineering Vice President, the Mechanical Engineering Manager is responsible for the design and development of amusement park rides and systems within the Chance Rides family of products, as well as leading research and development activities for potential new products. This role requires a blend of technical expertise, leadership, and project management skills to drive engineering projects from conception through completion. The Mechanical Engineering Manager typically performs the duties listed below but is not necessarily limited to them.
Job Responsibilities:
- Lead and mentor a team of mechanical engineers and designers, ensuring the delivery of high-quality engineering solutions.
- Manage multiple projects, including budgeting, scheduling, resource allocation, and risk management.
- Oversee the design and development of mechanical systems and products, ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulations.
- Work closely with cross-functional teams, including electrical engineering, purchasing, project management, and manufacturing, to ensure projects stay on schedule, within budget, and meet customer requirements or specifications.
- Drive continuous improvement and innovation in mechanical design, processes, and products.
- Ensure comprehensive documentation of design, specifications, and product performance.
- A blend of hands-on working engineering combined with project and team management.
Preferred Education & Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in mechanical engineering, with at least 3 years in a leadership role.
- Strong knowledge of mechanical systems, materials, and manufacturing processes.
- Proven experience in project management and leading engineering teams.
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency in 3D CAD software and other engineering tools.
- Knowledge of industry standards (ASTM or TÜV) and regulatory requirements.
- Hands on fabrication, machining, assembly, etc. either professionally or personal hobby is a plus; “Maker” mindset.
